Plant Care Routine
1. Light ☀️
- Ideal: Bright, indirect light — soft filtered light helps maintain vibrant leaf patterns.
- Avoid: Direct sunlight (can burn leaves) and low light (may dull leaf color and stunt growth).
- Tip: East or north-facing windows are ideal; use sheer curtains for softer light if near a bright window.
2. Watering 💧
- Frequency: Keep soil consistently moist but not soggy. Water when the top 1–2 inches (2–5 cm) of soil are slightly dry. Usually once a week, more in summer, less in winter.
- Type: Use filtered, distilled, or rainwater — Calatheas are sensitive to chemicals like chlorine and fluoride.
- Tip: Avoid letting the soil dry out completely or remain soaked.
3. Humidity 🌫️
- Ideal: High humidity (60–80%) to prevent crispy leaf edges.
- Tips:
- Mist regularly or use a humidifier.
- Place on a pebble tray with water for added moisture.
- Group with other plants to raise humidity naturally.
4. Temperature 🌡️
- Ideal Range: 18–27°C (65–80°F).
- Avoid: Cold drafts, sudden temperature drops, and temperatures below 15°C (59°F). Keep away from air conditioners and heaters.
5. Fertilizing 🌱
- Frequency: Every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer (active growing season).
- Type: Diluted balanced liquid fertilizer (half-strength).
- Fall/Winter: Pause fertilizing as the plant grows slower.
